Rural Community Birthwork Circle

This virtual circle is for rural based practicing or student birthworkers / doulas, perinatal support professionals, midwives, lactation consultants, or the like.
Welcome to Sacred Bridges' Rural Community Birthwork Circle!
This is a come-as-you-are space for reproductive support people to gather with peer reflection and support. As birth workers, we are (hope)fully aware of how we can't do it alone. There is such immunity in community, and whether it be due to rural locations or global pandemic, we must weave our webs of support for ourselves so we can continue to show up for our communities.
Hosted by Michela Hernandez, a full spectrum birthworker(doula), reproductive rights advocate, commuity collaborator/organizer, educator, and more in her rural commuity in Humboldt County, California. Michela has spoken on rural birthwork at birthworker conferences (Access & Action Conference) and is a current guest facilitator of the Rural Birthwork module of Cornerstone Doula Trainings' Capstone: Full Spectrum Doula Training.
The intention in holding this circle is for there to be a regular space for rural birthworkers + perinatal support professionals to find connection, curiosity, and compassion in these amazing and challenging times of reproductive justice work. Living and practicing rurally has its own isolating qualities and challenges, without things like a pandemic thrown in. As we begin to gather in person again, I will continue to hold this space virtually for the sake of connection and commuinty building. My hopes, my prayer is that this can be a space to gather to express and witness for others, as well as share what is working or what's not.
